How much time and money did you spend figuring that out?<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">While my blogging partner, Anita, is trying to figure out what lifetime memories she should keep and what to do with the rest, I&#8217;m still trying to understand how I manage to collect so much stuff in the first place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">I feel a little like the kid named Pigpen from the Peanuts comics. He&#8217;s the dirty kid with a perpetual cloud of dust surrounding him. Wherever I go I seem to be in a pile of stuff, especially paper.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">Paper collects on my desks at home and work. They gather on the floor and under the seats in my car. They boil out of the glove box: years of expired tire warranties and Taco Bell napkins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">I can&#8217;t even bring myself to sit down at my desk at home surrounded as I am by notes, receipts and stacks of paid bills I haven&#8217;t had the energy to file.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"comp-jdopo0ln\" class=\"wp2\" title=\"\" data-exact-height=\"276\" data-content-padding-horizontal=\"0\" data-content-padding-vertical=\"0\">\n<div id=\"comp-jdopo0lnlink\" class=\"wp2link\">\n<div id=\"comp-jdopo0lnimg\" class=\"wp2img\" data-style=\"\">\n<figure style=\"width: 561px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"comp-jdopo0lnimgimage\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static.wixstatic.com\/media\/cd2718_bf2a4bcbd45c4a4a9fc4795d29ece922~mv2.jpg\/v1\/fill\/w_561%2Ch_276%2Cal_c%2Cq_80%2Cusm_0.66_1.00_0.01\/cd2718_bf2a4bcbd45c4a4a9fc4795d29ece922~mv2.webp?resize=561%2C276&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"561\" height=\"276\" data-type=\"image\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u201cIf a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, then what are we to think of an empty desk?\u201d &#8211; Albert Einstein<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"comp-jdoun9y4\" class=\"txtNew\" data-packed=\"true\">\n<p class=\"font_8\">All around me are boxes of pictures I intend to scan and keep, just like Anita was talking about. That sounds easy enough except that I have\u00a0 sixty-some years worth and that doesn&#8217;t even count the thousands of pointless pictures I&#8217;ve taken since my phone became my camera.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">I have little boxes here and there filled with stuff I don&#8217;t know what to do with. Some of it is unidentifiable &#8211; all the stuff I have no use for but am afraid to throw away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">And now we have the research confiming &#8212; clutter is stressful.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">I&#8217;m going to add that article to the shredder pile I&#8217;m slowly collecting.
