Either “The sky is falling” or “Every cloud has a silver lining.”<\/p>\n

Both points of view are\u00a0evenly represented among my nearest and dearest.\u00a0 Most days I fall into the silver lining category, which means of course I’m\u00a0destined to spend much of my time with people who are always dodging chunks of the sky.<\/p>\n

I like grey skies.\u00a0 I live in Northern California in a fog belt and I am (perversely, some say) not a fan of summer.\u00a0 I count the days until\u00a0the season changes to autumn, which\u00a0brings the chance of showers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

My\u00a0only grandchild lives in sunny Southern California, so I spend a lot of time there.\u00a0 A few weeks ago, the\u00a0four-year-old and I stepped outside her house\u00a0and\u00a0walked right into an unexpected June rain shower.\u00a0\u00a0 She stopped and turned her face up, and as\u00a0 her new sundress got good and soaked she\u00a0said,<\/p>\n

“I love the rain.\u00a0 Free water coming down.”<\/p>\n

That’s my girl.\u00a0<\/p>\n
