Her caffeine content is diluted and carries fancy names, but it’s still coffee and there’s music playing and therefore the ritual is equally sophisticated.<\/p>\nDuring this fall season we’ve been taking our books to a cozy new neighborhood coffee shop which has the best music playing.\u00a0 One week it was jazz.\u00a0 Last week it was standards – big ballads and such. We’re reading.\u00a0 We’re chatting.\u00a0 We’re sipping.<\/p>\n
The Grand, a new teenager, listens mostly to her favorite rock groups at maximum volume.\u00a0 Primarily Brendon Urie\/Panic At The Disco.\u00a0 She makes everyone in the family follow Brendon on Instagram.<\/p>\n
A song came on.\u00a0 Mellow and swingy with a full orchestra. She put down her book and asked, “Who is THAT?”\u00a0 That was Michael Buble.\u00a0 She watched him with James Cordon on Carpool Karaoke and on The Graham Norton Show.\u00a0 She’s now entered the world of the big-voiced crooners. I give Brendon Urie much of the credit.\u00a0 His respect for them may have rubbed off on her.<\/p>\n
Our family always plays Christmas music during Thanksgiving dinner.\u00a0 Without mentioning it, my daughter, mother of The Grand,\u00a0 pushed play on Michael Buble’s Christmas album.\u00a0 The Grand lit up.\u00a0 The leaf liked it too.<\/p>\n
