She had plenty of room in a big flat in Boston\u2019s Back Bay.\u00a0 From there she moved to a Maine farmhouse, and pared down her sofas, but last\u00a0 time I visited, I noticed a lot of chairs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">I recently emerged from a small-table phase. I gave some away and sold some and I don\u2019t miss the tables that left, but I\u2019m unable to say goodbye to lamps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Old lamps work fine, as long as you know someone who can rewire them.\u00a0 My friend, Itsie,\u00a0 in Mill Valley, at nearly 90 years old had a full workshop on one level of his hillside home and he kept all my treasures in working order.<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theagingofaquarius.com\/ag_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/LAMP-MID-CENTURY-DRUM-SHADE.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2088 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theagingofaquarius.com\/ag_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/LAMP-MID-CENTURY-DRUM-SHADE.jpg?resize=164%2C288\" alt=\"\" width=\"164\" height=\"288\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theagingofaquarius.com\/ag_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/LAMP-MID-CENTURY-DRUM-SHADE.jpg?w=182&amp;ssl=1 182w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theagingofaquarius.com\/ag_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/LAMP-MID-CENTURY-DRUM-SHADE.jpg?resize=171%2C300&amp;ssl=1 171w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 164px) 85vw, 164px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Itsie re-wired this one<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After he passed, one of my favorite old lamps flickered and died. Todd to the rescue.\u00a0 Todd&#8217;s a prolific music producer who also knows his way around tools.\u00a0 He sent me to Home Depot in Woodland Hills with a piece of paper specifying what part he needed.<\/p>\n<p>Back in Northern California, I plugged it in and it glows.
