It&#8217;s a love song. Every once in a while, I have to park near the sign with the bell. In the beginning, the bell was bright yellow. In Southern California, my brother and I drove from wherever we were to the first location in Downey and walked up to the order window in the tiny, distinctive hut. We surrendered that day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"comp-jd4y5hsb\" class=\"wp2\" title=\"\" data-exact-height=\"270\" data-content-padding-horizontal=\"0\" data-content-padding-vertical=\"0\">\n<div id=\"comp-jd4y5hsblink\" class=\"wp2link\">\n<div id=\"comp-jd4y5hsbimg\" class=\"wp2img\" data-style=\"\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"comp-jd4y5hsbimgimage\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static.wixstatic.com\/media\/cd2718_7d2a4978c8784d4f9930669f6e4fef69~mv2.jpg\/v1\/fill\/w_600%2Ch_338%2Cal_c%2Clg_1%2Cq_80\/cd2718_7d2a4978c8784d4f9930669f6e4fef69~mv2.jpg?w=840&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" data-type=\"image\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"comp-jd4y6k3q\" class=\"txtNew\">\n<p class=\"font_8\"><strong><em>Original location on the right, today&#8217;s look on the left.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"comp-jd4y8go5\" class=\"txtNew\">\n<p class=\"font_8\">I can say no to some things, but with Taco Bell, I don&#8217;t even try. It&#8217;s not a matter of<em> if,<\/em> but <em>when<\/em> I&#8217;ll stop by. Taco Bell calls me even when I&#8217;m headed in the other direction. This won&#8217;t take long because a very few ingredients are responsible for fulfilling all\u00a0the\u00a0promises of the menu. Ground beef.\u00a0\u00a0Cheese. Lettuce. Tomatoes. Tortillas. Beans. Sour Cream. Red\u00a0sauce. And\u00a0also now chicken.I love that so many things can be\u00a0assembled\u00a0from these magic\u00a0ingredients and served in different shapes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"comp-jd4yp0oz\" class=\"wp2\" title=\"\" data-exact-height=\"200\" data-content-padding-horizontal=\"0\" data-content-padding-vertical=\"0\">\n<div id=\"comp-jd4yp0ozlink\" class=\"wp2link\">\n<div id=\"comp-jd4yp0ozimg\" class=\"wp2img\" data-style=\"\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"comp-jd4yp0ozimgimage\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static.wixstatic.com\/media\/cd2718_30d384348ed1434c80ddf63b54fce413~mv2.jpg\/v1\/fill\/w_353%2Ch_250%2Cal_c%2Cq_80%2Cusm_0.66_1.00_0.01\/cd2718_30d384348ed1434c80ddf63b54fce413~mv2.jpg?w=840&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" data-type=\"image\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Fair warning. This taco salad is easily half a day&#8217;s calories and worth it.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"comp-jd4yxsq5\" class=\"txtNew\">\n<p class=\"font_8\">The drink bar at most locations offers power to the button pusher. Fill the cup with ice and here&#8217;s my choice. Push the iced tea spigot.\u00a0Move along\u00a0and push\u00a0for lemonade.\u00a0 Mix them together. In California we call this drink Arnold Palmer.
