Thursday’s my favorite day of the week.\u00a0A Thursday’s as good as a Friday, in terms of anticipation, and\u00a0 anticipation is the key.\u00a0Looking forward to something is often more fun than the “something” when it actually arrives.\u00a0 The one thing we can decide\u00a0all by ourselves is what and how much\u00a0we’re anticipating.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, whether or not there are weekend plans, I look\u00a0forward to the weekend.\u00a0 This was true\u00a0even when I worked\u00a0weekends, and it’s true today when I am more or less in charge of my own work schedule.\u00a0 There’s no\u00a0accounting for this little fizz\u00a0of joy that bubbles up\u00a0around afternoon coffee time on a\u00a0Thursday.\u00a0 It’s the feeling that something good might happen.<\/p>\n
When I was a kid and a brand new member of the workforce, I bought the “hump day” reasoning.\u00a0 Everyone talked about\u00a0how great Wednesday would be, because it’s the halfway point in the week.\u00a0 But that didn’t last long.\u00a0 It never did\u00a0carry the anticipation of a Thursday.<\/p>\n
On the opposite side of this falls the\u00a0least favorite day of the week.\u00a0 Sunday seems to be the letdown point for lots of us.\u00a0Some say it goes back to childhood when, by Sunday\u00a0\u00a0afternoon, fun was done and a new school week loomed.<\/p>\n
I’m thinking maybe it’s the letdown from all that Thursday anticipation. But I’m not giving up the Thursday feeling just to alleviate the Sunday afternoon blues.\u00a0 Anticipation is still the only part of the week I can control.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
