  1. Funny how a column title can cause you to recall something from the recent past. Your lastest header is called “The First Day of Summer.” It reminded me of a office gag photo I once spotted in a lunchroom. It was that classic image of Abe Lincoln we’ve all seen on the five dollar bill. And right below it were the words: ” ‘Ya know, general, I remember when Global Warming was called … Summer!”

    Being the conservative snark I am, I whipped out my ballpoint Bic and wrote beneath it: “So do I, Abe.”

    I was going to tag it with “Burma Shave”, but after a quick glance around the room, I realized that no one within “pass the salt distance” was over 30. Probably just as well. Most of ’em probably thought Burma Shave was a condo resort in India.
